Rhymes With "Dumbo"

You know, sometimes it’s not actually the product that needs to be recalled, it’s the parents. Because, if the recent Bumbo recall is any indication, there are clearly some defective parents out there.

Apparently the warning on the back of the Bumbo seat that most people ignore because really, it’s just common sense not to play Jenga with the baby, was a little bit too vague, and as a result the Consumer Product Safety Commission was forced to listen to at least 28 different families blame everything but their own poor judgement for the injuries sustained by their babies after they abandoned all pretense of common sense and plunked that sucker up on a tabletop. With the baby in it.

The CPSC’s brilliant solution to the rampant danger to the infant community posed by the rogue Bumbos? Issue a new warning sticker. Because the one that specifically said, “designed for floor use only” wasn’t clear enough apparently. Am I the only one who thinks that maybe the problem isn’t with the warning itself, but with the parents who failed to heed it?

If this is what the CPSC has to deal with on a daily basis, I’m starting to understand how all that lead paint made it onto the toy shelves. The Aquadots however.....

I thought the same thing when I read the article about the Bumbo recall. Our society cannot take the blame for ANYTHING that is nobody's fault but their own. It's like the obese person who sues McDonalds for making them that way. McDonalds did not shove that Cheeseburger down your throat...you know that you take that risk when you eat the double cheeseburger with the supersized fry and supersized soda everyday for lunch and dinner. People need to stand up and take responsibility for their own actions! And not to mention the senselessness of the jury or judge that actually awards the stupidity of those who sue for reasons such as these.
