About Stacey

Write a bio. Sure, that will be easy. Well…not so much. As I sit here trying to get what I have accomplished and how I have actually gotten to this crazy point in my life on paper (or rather this Microsoft word document) it’s just not that simple. It would really have to go all the way back to being a 12 year old little girl growing up on Long Island. Completely not like other 12 year olds – I didn’t want to play ‘dress up’ or have slumber parties putting on makeup, nope…I wanted to play store, or office, or produce a mockup of a magazine for the 7th grade. A pure entrepreneur as far back as I can remember.

As life went on its merry way, graduating high school, going to college, earning a BBA, entering the traditional corporate workforce, creating a handful of ideas and starting a couple of small businesses, getting married and then finally, the deal breaker…getting pregnant, was the inevitable path that brought me to you.

In 2005 my business partner, Linda, and I started a company called Moms-for-Profit, out of necessity and personal experience.  The Readers Digest version of our story went like this…We both had our first child and left our corporate jobs. We both started small businesses to feed our intellectual and creative needs. Linda had a company called Hugs-and-Stitches, I had a company called Swap-its!  She needed a brochure and a website designed, I completed those services for her. I needed someone to sell my product to stores; she accomplished that feat for me. Over a yummy dinner at Baci and a few glasses of wine, Moms-for-Profit was born. This was our ‘it’. Moms were starting businesses and needed help. We were those moms. We also were the moms that had the experience in completing specific business services. Additionally, we were watching our friends struggle with the stay-at-home challenge while they ‘opted out’ to raise their children. They did not necessarily want to start a business, but their talents were dormant and there was absolutely no reason for it. They would welcome working on a project, not to mention getting paid a bit for that project.  THAT’S IT! Leveraging mompreneur’s with mom consultants. Moms helping moms grow their businesses by utilizing the skills of the talent pool that had the experience, time and more importantly…the need to stay connected to the outside world. Brilliant.

Yes it was, brilliant. Three years later we are a national organization with hundreds of members (mompreneurs), thousands of consultants with a variety of talents and corporations utilizing us as their outsourcing agency.  We knew this was it for so many reasons but the biggest reason of all is that we were empowering moms to work within their terms and ultimately allow them to play and live their life without sacrificing their families.

So where does the term Hybrid Mom come in? We were presented with an opportunity about a year and a half ago to produce a national magazine that would be distributed through Gymboree Play & Music. We termed it Hybrid Mom. The word “hybrid” encompassed today’s mom. A fusion of many roles. Our magazine is published quarterly and Hybrid Mom is dedicated to today's Moms. The voice of Hybrid Mom is consistent with the Moms-for-Profit mission. We know that our readers are no longer choosing between a successful career or a successful family life, but rather integrating their many aspirations for the purpose of achieving a balanced life. Hybrid Mom's editorial content reflects a voice of friendship, rather than an expert and focuses on the "Real world" of this new generation of Moms. Hybrid Mom provides insight and intelligence, practical tools and strategies to guide today's Moms in their quest to work, live and play without sacrificing their families.

Whew. Now you might understand why it was so difficult to jot down a few words ‘about’ me because- I’m not here for me. I’m here for you. I’m here to grant you the right to follow your dreams without sacrificing your family. I’m here to label you a Hybrid Mom. I’m here to empower you to start a business, stay in your corporate job and demand a flexible arrangement, work from home utilizing your skills, or assist you in utilizing those skills in your child’s PTA – however you define ‘work’ – Hybrid Mom and Moms-for-Profit is here to connect, relate and support you within your hybrid life.  Thank you for reading my ‘about’. I look forward to blogging about the crazy life we are all living and hope that you laugh, share and join us in this Hybrid Mom revolution.
It’s for you, it’s for your children, it’s for your family – it’s for the future of our sons AND daughters! Cheers!
